A - 6 EASTER SUNDAY

  1. S. FAUSTI - All speech shows what is the fruit of the Love of Jesus: the communion with Him, the Son, makes us connect with the Father and makes us live of their mutual Love. First of all it is stated that loving Jesus means to observe His Word, which gives us the Spirit of Truth. (15-18). Even if He goes away, the one who loves Him, he sees Him, because He participates of His own life (19-21).
The Spirit is Life; The Spirit of Truth could be translated "True, Authentic Life," that of God. This is given us back by the knowledge of the Son, who frees us from the lie and makes us live in Father's Love.
The Spirit of truth is the opposite of the spirit of lie, the origin of our evils.
The Spirit of Truth is the Spirit of the Son, who told Thomas, "I am the Way, the Truth, the Life."
The world, as it succumbs to the lie, can not yet receive the Spirit of Truth. He can not receive It because it is incapable of seeing it and of knowing It. In fact, within a few hours, it will take and will hang on the wood the Lord of Glory. He will do it for blindness: "They do not know what they are doing" (Lk 23:34).
The Spirit of Truth has resided among us in Jesus, the Son who lives His Father's love itself for us: in Him we have known and believed to the Love that God has for us.
Within a few hours, that love that was "with" and "near" us, will be "inside us".
This is the supreme gift that the Son communicates to us from the cross, where "everything is accomplished" and He gives His Spirit
The disciples, with the death of Jesus, are not left orphans.
Instead, they find again their place among the Father, because they receive the Love. Itself of the Son.
His departure is in fact His coming to us, indeed His being in us with His Spirit who makes us sons, in communion with Him and with the Father.
The world, which now does not see the Spirit of Truth in Jesus, it shortly won't see Jesus eitjher It will eliminate Him physically. The disciples will continue to see Him. But they will see Him in a new way: through the wounds of the hands and of the side, which show His Love, source of joy and peace.
Jesus has inside Himself the life that overcomes death (11:25). Soon, when we will have taken to Him life, and He would have given it to us, we will inherit the Life that He since ever lives. That one of the Beloved Son, who loves the Father and the brothers.
"That Day," in the Old Testament, is when the Lord comes, revealing His glory and saving man. It is the day of the resurrection, when the Risen Lord will show Himself to the disciples who will receive His Spirit. It is the definitive day when, nigth ended ,it begins the Light without sunset.
On the Easter day we will know that Jesus is in the Father, Who loves Him and makes Him risen ,we will know even that we are in the Son because He loved us and gave His life for us; finally, we will know that He is in us, because we love Him and observe His words.
Through the mutual immanence of us in the Son and of the Son in us, we know that the Son is in the Father and the Father is in the Son.
"No one knows who the Son is except the Father and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son wants to reveal him." (Lk 10: 22)

  2. -->In that day we will the knowledge of love between Father and Son: we will share God's Life. "Having" the commandments of Jesus it means to make them own and to live them. Listening to the Word and not observing it is the impiousness indicated by the prophets
Love is the beginning and end of observing His Commands: if love makes live like Him, to live as Him realizes love.
The Father loves everyone man , even if they ignore Him and reject Him.
But only the one who loves the Son and observes His commands has the Son inside himself and experiments the Love of the Father for Him.
Accepting the free Love of the Father is the act of freedom that makes us what we are:
sons who love because they are loved.
The Son too loves us since ever , like the Father, even if we deny Him as Peter and betray Him as Judas.
The fact that He loves us so , it will allow us to experience His love for us.
Only those who love know the love with which they are loved.
Without love for Jesus, there is no knowledge of Him, neither of the Father nor of the Spirit: "He who does not love , he has not known God, for God is Love" 1 Jh 4,8

  3. Alleluia JN 14:23

    R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord,
and my Father will love him and we will come to him.
    R. Alleluia, alleluia.
    Gospel JN 14:15-21

    Jesus said to his disciples:
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always,
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept,
because it neither sees nor knows him.
But you know him, because he remains with you,
    and will be in you.
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
In a little while the world will no longer see me,
but you will see me, because I live and you will live.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father
and you are in me and I in you.
Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him."

  4. Reading 1 ACTS 8:5-8, 14-17

Philip went down to the city of Samaria
and proclaimed the Christ to them.
With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip
when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing.
For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice,
came out of many possessed people,
and many paralyzed or crippled people were cured.
There was great joy in that city.

Now when the apostles in Jerusalem
heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God,
they sent them Peter and John,
who went down and prayed for them,
that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
    for it had not yet fallen upon any of them;
they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then they laid hands on them
and they received the Holy Spirit.
    Responsorial Psalm PS 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20

    R. (1) Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.

    sing praise to the glory of his name;
    proclaim his glorious praise.
Say to God, "How tremendous are your deeds!"
    R. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
"Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you,

Come and see the works of God,
his tremendous deeds among the children of Adam.
    R. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    He has changed the sea into dry land;
    through the river they passed on foot;
therefore let us rejoice in him.
He rules by his might forever.
    R. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare
what he has done for me.
Blessed be God who refused me not
    my prayer or his kindness!
    R. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    Reading 2 1 PT 3:15-18

    Beloved:
Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.
Always be ready to give an explanation
to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,
but do it with gentleness and reverence,
    keeping your conscience clear,
so that, when you are maligned,
those who defame your good conduct in Christ
may themselves be put to shame.
For it is better to suffer for doing good,
if that be the will of God, than for doing evil.

For Christ also suffered for sins once,
the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous,
that he might lead you to God.
Put to death in the flesh,
he was brought to life in the Spirit.
