S. FAUSTI - "Do not be afraid, Jesus says to the Apostles, after sending them as sheep among the wolves. Fear is the first engine of human action, it should instead be just the brake! To avoid the dangers of life is right, but it not become the worry that distracts from every occupation. The self-preservation instinct in itself is healthy. It is necessary to avoid evil. But it is the insufficient principle to live, if at the same time there is no confidence in good. Without trust, man is stuck and desperate, without fear is heedless and reckless , only the unconscious, with the dictators, are not afraid; But that we be afraid for them and of them ! Confidence and fear are two antagonistic principles, both necessary. The second overwhelming, the first, instead,is scarce. The Lord came to give us trust in Him who frees us from the fear of death with which the enemy keeps us enslaved throughout our lives (Eph 2:15). Death is a natural event. It is not a bad thing, even if, because of sin, we live it badly! It is right not to look for it, but it is evil to refuse it.. We are mortals , but our limit is not the end of ourselves, as it fears our egoism, but the beginning of the Other and of our communion with Him. Principle and end of our life it is not the void that we fear but the Father Who loves us and That we love back.. The perfect love casts out every fear (1Gv 4,18). As long as we live our love is still not perfect. Because of this we have fear too, but we are not dominated by it. The apostle, while feeling fears and uncertainties, (1 Cor 2: 3) does not let himself be guided by these, but by the Spirit of the One Who gave life to everyone (2 Corinthians 5:14). The fear of death not become a philosophy of life. Our "philosophy" be the "love of wisdom" of the Father Man is always contended between two loves: that of the wisdom of the flesh, which closes in the fear of death, and that of the wisdom of the Spirit, which opens to trust and to life. Every time he has to choose which to marry. The passage is marked by three imperatives. "Do not be afraid", followed by statements of the reason. Fear makes them do what they fear, only trust makes them do what they want. I accomplish God's judgment by myself here on earth. If, in the dailiness of the actions and in the extraordinariness of the persecutions, I recognize the Son as a brother, I am recognized by the Father. I recognize Him as gratitude of love. He first loved me and gave himself for me (Gal 5:20); And I, in my little brother, recognize Him (18.5), who, to acknowledge everyone , has become the last and the servant of everyone (Mk 9:35). My eternal future before the Father depends on recognizing the Son now in front of men who will be present in the flesh of the last one until the end of the world to save us: The "tremendous" judgment of God, the only thing that counts and remains of history,it is placed in my hands, entrusted to my responsibility. I am his judge, and therefore myself. To recognize is not just a matter of lips. It is to belong to Him with heart and with life.

Moses said to the people: "You are a people sacred to the LORD, your God; he has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own. It was not because you are the largest of all nations that the LORD set his heart on you and chose you, for you are really the smallest of all nations. It was because the LORD loved you and because of his fidelity to the oath he had sworn your fathers, that he brought you out with his strong hand from the place of slavery, and ransomed you from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Understand, then, that the LORD, your God, is God indeed, the faithful God who keeps his merciful covenant down to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments, but who repays with destruction a person who hates him; he does not dally with such a one, but makes them personally pay for it. You shall therefore carefully observe the commandments, the statutes and the decrees that I enjoin on you today." Responsorial Psalm PS 103:1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8, 10

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.
This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit. Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as savior of the world. Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us.

At that time Jesus exclaimed: "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
